Strawberries from Emma Lea Farms in in Richmond, BC

Eating in Season:
Choose produce when it is "in season", freshest, most abundant, and least costly.  Peak flavour and ripeness allows us to enjoy the bounty of BC's fruit!
Storage: Keep strawberries dry, ventilated and refrigerated.  Wash just before use.

The farm below has berries available U-Pick all summer.
We went with my cousin's family. They were visiting from
Asia in last year, and they
had never picked strawberries.

Rhubarb Strawberry Crisp

Anthony Family Show and Share:

The garden in my mother's backyard.

The Rhubarb plant has enormous, broad leaves that are toxic, form high concentrations of Oxalic acid.  Rhubarb roots have been prized for medicinal properties.  The plant originated in China 5000 years ago.  Rhubarb has been use during the Roman Empire, and throughout Great Britain since the 1800s. Every spring, the plant produces celery-like stems that are very, very sour. Rhubarb grows well in our Southwestern BC climate, and is easy to care for.

Where's the Beef ???!!!

Come n' git it!   ...That's what I call out to my kids.  You'd  think that they would com runnin' But NO, these days, they would rather play Minecraft or watch You Tube instead of eatin' a decent dinner!  I have a real beef with this!  Why aren't they coming to dinner?   COVID-19 has given them new access and freedom on electronic devices! My kids have never had so much screen time!   They have difficulty working on their homework being in grade 4 and 6, and doing the best job they can to complete school assignments on line.  The temptation of video games is only a click away!  It is especially challenging when I have to look over my shoulder to finish my own work at my desk from home. Argh!  I am sure none of you are distracted by electronics right? *wink, wink* 😉😉 👿👼                                A dinner plate sized burger bigger than my son's heads 8+ servings with Home made bun, made with 4 pounds of ground beef.
