It's Berry Season!

What starts off summer better than a delectable piece of sunshine? ... Pie!

In June, right after the kids wereout of school, we took the whole family to our local  strawberry patch.  https://emmaleafarms.com/berries/strawberries/  The warm Spring this year meant that strawberries were early this year! We made an afternoon of picking fresh berries, dusting them off, and biting into sun warmed, juicy berries.
My son and nephew setting off for a treasure hunt in the strawberry fields!

Celeste, my niece rolling out pastry  crust for Fresh Strawberry Pies.  Great job  for her first time! It makes me so proud when children are able to see the results of their hard work.   This is instant gratification in a positive, edible form at it's best! The pride and sparkle in her eyes was delightful!
Behold, the finished Fresh Strawberry Pies with custard filling, flaky crust, topped with clear gel to hold the mountain of  berries in place!  Yum!
